Oxford and Cambridge

Oxford is home to the oldest university in the English-speaking world, dating back to the 12th century. Following a dispute between students and townsfolk in 1209, some of the academics of Oxford fled north-east, where they founded the University of Cambridge. Together referred to as ‘Oxbridge’, these two universities have produced 40 British Prime Ministers and 130 Nobel Prize Winners between them.
