The increasing quantity and complexity of equipment during World War II led to the formation of the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers in 1942. Described by Field Marshal Montgomery as ‘Keeping the Punch in the Army’s Fist’, the unit’s role is to make sure Army equipment is working to its maximum.
