Coldstream Guards

The Coldstream Guards have been in continuous active service since they were raised in 1650 – longer than any other British regiment. They were instrumental in the restoration of Charles II in 1660, when they marched from Scotland and held London in the face of rioting and rebellions, they were virtually unique in surviving the disbandment of the New Model Army, and have served in virtually every major engagement. Therfore the motto “Second to None” seems particularly apt.
