Army Air Corps
Formed during World War Two, the AAC has its roots in the Royal Flying Corps, the precursor to the modern day RAF. The first flights undertaken by the army were during the Boer war, when balloons were used for reconnaissance and observation. Nowadays, the regiment has retained the surveillance role, as well as having adopted offensive and transport duties, making it one of the most versatile units in the British Army.
